Fort Ticonderoga Sunday, May 17 Fort Ticonderoga played a crucial role in the Revolutionary War as a strategic gateway between Canada and New York, a site of both early American victories and a later British recapture, and a source of vital artillery for the Continental Army. This venue is part of the Fort Ticonderoga planned walk. It was first captured by the Americans in May 1775, a victory that provided a significant boost to morale and supplied the Continental Army with desperately needed cannons, which were used to force the British out of Boston. The fort was then recaptured by the British in 1777 during General John Burgoyne's Saratoga campaign. Rate $24 with walk fee through the ESCV registration form The fee includes ESCV walk, entrance to the Fort Ticonderoga museum and a $10 value token to drive up through the Mount Defiance gate. |
